THE SHOW

The crowd, a mixed bunch of varying ages and backgrounds. Sporting stone washed jeans to dress pants, belly shirts to mini skirts, kilts to ball caps, top hats to KFC buckets. Noise from the crowd builds as energy from the excitement heightens with anticipation. To the innocent this appears like the eve of Halloween, or the beginning of the Rocky Horror picture show. Finally, the lights dim; smoke billows from around the classic rock concert drum riser, as the intro music blasts from the front lines of the P.A. speakers. Amidst the smoke clouds, figures appear to the frenzy of the audience. Five silhouettes stand motionless, with their backs to the awaiting crowd. The lights burst open to the shrill of a distorted guitar wail.  Fists pump violently in the air, while sweaty fans scream out the familiar chorus of "Welcome to the Jungle." …the GNFNR experience begins….
Many Classic Rock fans have often reminisced on these kind of club shows, nostalgic for a time when Gn'R blazed through such classics as "Paradise City," “Nightrain”, Mr. Brownstone” and the crowd favorite "Sweet Child O' Mine." And lets not forget the romantics with such sweet songs like “Patience”, “Don’t Cry” and  “November Rain” Also remember Guns n” Roses played and recorded covers of such great classics like “Live and Let Die”, “Knockin’ on Heavens Door”, Sympathy for the Devil”, “Hair of the Dog" and “Mama Kin” These fond memories have slowly eroded after years of internal band conflicts, lineup changes, and stadium tours that cannot match the intimacy of a club show.  These original diehard fans are brought back to: the magic of Guns n Roses from the Sunset Strip and in the late 80’s with the added touch of what the new Millennium brought to a Guns N Roses event.
It wasn’t till the late 90’s that the pieces of this fallen rock dynasty were picked up.  Enter “Vegas Axl”. Coming out of the successfully and highly acclaimed “Perfect Strangers” Deep Purple Tribute and sometimes referred to as just “Axal”, the vocalist always had the strong desire to re-live the vocal styles of W.Axl Rose. After being brought through the ranks in Led Zeppelin bands from his teen years, he started by joining other GnR bands. There isn’t one show that passes by with out the audience’s disbelief of how this band can sound like, and put on a show like Guns n’ Roses. The result for the past decade has been “GUNZ N’ FN’ ROSEZ”, a quintet of dedicated Guns n' Roses fans whose recreation of the original sound and appearance is unmatched by any other tribute band.  The intensity and precision by which GNFNR performs will give you what you thought was extinct: being up front at a real Gn'R concert ( video 1 –Quicktime 6.mov 10mb Rock n’ Roll Heaven Buffalo) Close your eyes at a GUNZ N’ FN’ ROSEZ performance and you will find yourself at the Whiskey in Los Angeles, in the 80’s.Open your eyes and you’ll think your front row at the Hard Rock Hotel In Las Vegas Mon Dec 31 2001 from the News Years eve gala when Bucket Head was on stage with Axl’s new Guns n’ Roses. (Video 2 Quicktime 7 H.264 800Kbps Streaming.mov 40 mb.)

The “show” moves through it’s 2, 60 minute sets, 1, 90 minute set or it’s patented 2 ½ hour concert set. Amidst staged lighting and special effects the Gunz N’ FN’ Rosez band is making constant costume changes without any interruption to the show.

Front man “Vegas Axl” (his name born from an appearance on the “Howard Stern Show” in Las Vegas where he played Axl Rose on a segment with Howard) supplies GUNZ N’ FN’ ROSEZ with the atmosphere and attitude of the exuberant rock star Axl Rose. Swaying back and forth and beckoning the crowd, Vegas has mastered Axl's patented stage moves.  Vegas’s vocal ability allows him the range to flawlessly mimic every element of Axl's voice, from the low grumbles to the high-pitched wails.
T
he cornerstone of GUNZ N’ FN’ ROSEZ is Lenny C, who pulls off Slash with amazing precision.  Playing a Gibson Les Paul through a Marshall stack just as Slash does, Lenny has perfectly recreated that sweetly distorted tone that made Guns n' Roses a world-wide phenomenon.  Lenny also possesses a unique ability to perform Slash's solos, a craft he perfected after years on the road.

Not to be overlooked is “Bucket Head”, represented in GUNZ N’ FN’ ROSEZ by “Extra Crispy”.  E.C. himself is an accomplished guitarist who perfectly characterizes the cool theatrical attitude of Bucket Head.  E.C.’s   Pantomime posses and occasional blazing guitar solo stands out as a great contribution to the act. “Bucket” also provides the lush rock keyboard arrangements that help support the classic G n' R sound for such dynasties as “November Rain, “Live and Let Die” and “Knockin on Heavens Door”.

The rhythm section of GUNZ N’ FN’ ROSEZ is expertly handled by “Mikc Tazz “(Duff McKagan) from the 90’s band “Dust N’ Bones” which he created and “Runs in your Hoses”. J C   (Matt Sorum) from “Dust N’ Bones,” Dress to Kill” and “Dr. Feelgood”.  The combination of J's thunderous drumming style, showmanship and Mick’s low-end punch with Duff’s stage presence and image creates the ideal backbone for an unforgettable Guns n' Roses experience.

BRENT DOERNER’S DECIBEL – MUSIC REVIEW

This is a refreshing dose of hard rocking music for the working man. Doerner and Company are making music for themselves and not for some  "suit". With a triple guitar attack it’s not your average shit, it’s the real deal.

All the makings of a classic album are here. This is a unique blend of rock, metal, blues and country pickin’ - all mixed together. Upbeat rockers like "Takin' the Color Outta Da Blooze" and "A Body for You" prominently feature Brent's whiskey soaked vocals.

Lyrically, the hard rocker "The Sum of 2 People" is suffering with passion and makes you want to crank  the stereo. "Stainless Steel Emotion" is a tongue and cheek kind of tune, and it twists your ear. The big surprise here is "Dancin' Frogs" which features Hilliard Walters on lead vocals. This is a true modern-day classic.

The previously mentioned "A Body for You" is a love song done Decibel style. “You’ve got a top hat style when you want indeed.” The groove is perfect for this track with some killer guitar work. Songs like "Breathe My Name" and "Never Turn Yer Back" are fantastic blues based rockers. Brent's twin brother, Brian (Saga/ex-Helix) makes an appearance on "Fire in the Bedroom". This song is about a non-fatal attraction and the “arena rock" feel is present in "On Bended Knee".

In a time when a lot of artists follow a set formula, Brent Doerner's Decibel delivers a unique collection of songs that with an excellent mix of different styles, perfectly combined into one distinct package.

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK

FROM TORONTO, ONTARIO

Picture 001.JPG (37946 bytes)

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCKwas formed in Toronto in the Fall of 2003 with the intention of taking the AC/DC tribute scene to a new level.  Stunningly powerful vocals that emulate the styles of both Brian Johnson and Bon Scott in the way they were meant to be heard,  Add the brilliant execution of Angus young’s explosive guitar wizardry, and a rhythm section that builds the intensity of every tune with pounding drum beats and thundering chords and you have the make up of the “ULTIMATE tribute to AC/DC”.

Standing front and center for the band is JamesPROBLEM CHILDPritchard.  He was found at a Karaoke bar singing, correction, belting out AC/DC tunes (Close your eyes and listen….you’ll swear it’s the real thing!).  Rhythm guitarist, AlBIG BALLSBoriska is no stranger to the AC/DC tribute scene having been a past member of “Jailbreak”.  Lead guitarist, RobRIFF RAFFKowalishen is the second coming of Angus Young.  Sitting down on the job behind the kit is JimTHUNDERSTRUCKCampbell.   And rounding out the band is JohnJAILBREAKCannataro.  A natural guitarist willing to pick up the bass just to pay homage to the .....“THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER"
